Grantham Property Taxes
The property tax year in New Hampshire runs from April 1 to March 31 of the following year.
Grantham property taxes are billed twice per year: the spring bill typically comes out in late May and by law cannot be due before July 1. The fall bill comes out in the late October/early November timeframe and by law cannot be due before December 1. The spring bill is an estimated bill and provided as a convenience so that property owners don't get one bill for the whole year to be paid at one time; the spring bill is literally one-half of the previous year's total taxes. The fall bill comes out after the NH Department of Revenue (NH DRA) has set the rate for the town and is actually a bill for the entire year, minus what has already been paid.
By law property tax bills are mailed to the owner of record, regardless of whether or not a particular owner has their taxes paid by an escrow account. In addition, we send an electronic file to several banks and at least two large tax payment services who pay local property taxes on behalf of many national mortgage finance companies. Also, a .pdf of each of the spring and fall bills is posted promptly online; you may access them here. Please note that this file includes all bills for the town, totaling approximately 2,300 invoices. Depending on your browser you will need to use the Search function to find your invoice. We suggest searching by physical address, or map and lot number, if known.
All owners should be aware of this billing schedule and look for their bills to arrive in the above-referenced timeframes. As always, feel free to check the town website to see if bills have been issued, and/or contact the Town Clerk/Tax Collectors Office should you have questions. Our contact information is on the main Clerk/Collector's webpage.
